The Fiquetex Story
The question of sustainability and how we can build a more prosperous world for future generations is one of the biggest challenges facing modern businesses - and Fiquetex is part of the solution. We wanted to do our part and create renewable fabrics that are affordable, high quality and environmentally friendly for industry use worldwide.
When walking through the hills of Medellin, father and son Alex and Gabriel Moreno realised the potential of the fique plant. They noticed that too much of the plant was being wasted, which prompted years of study and design to bring you Fiquetex.
Alex Moreno is a textile engineer with over 30 years experience working in the industry. He is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and has worked on 5 patents of innovation to his name.
Gabriel Moreno has experience as a director of a fintech company and is an editor of the largest Latin magazine in the UK. He is currently an MSc student at the University of Oxford studying Latin American economics.
Our Fique Fabric is an aesthetically pleasing textile that is also long-lasting and economical. It can be adapted for numerous purposes, such as packaging material, eco-friendly carrier bags or even outdoor agricultural use.
Fique Vegan Leather

Why Work With Us
With state-of-the-art green technology, we follow the principles of the circular economy model and plan to sequester over 11,000 tons of CO2 from the environment by 2025. That means minimal waste and maximal recycling throughout our process to bring you high quality textiles to help your business do its part in the fight against climate change.
Fiquetex provides jobs and opportunities for rural farmers and their local community.
Fiquetex provides an alternative to materials whose production involves the mistreatment of animals and the need for land and resources to sustain them.
Fiquetex provides designers with a certified, quality and economic product to work with.
Not only do our raw materials absorb CO2, they require just 10% of the energy needed to produce synthetic fibres, meaning less pollution and clearer air which will help combat global warming.
Our materials are 100% biodegradable, meaning we won't add to landfills and will help the environment.
By 2050 there will be more plastic bags than fish in the sea. Fiquetex’s 100% biodegradable material is the solution that our oceans need.
Businesses using our green technology can apply for green tax reductions and grants, saving them money as well as using ethically sourced materials.
Fiquetex creates happy customers with a long lasting end product who know they have helped the environment.
Once their useful life is over, our materials can be buried and decompose, providing nutrients to the soil.
The benefits start again.
